Olfactory Signature
Where art meets aroma.
MAH x dsm-firmenich:
an olfactory signature
Does a museum have its own specific scent? Is it possible to craft a fragrance that truly embodies it?
That was the challenge the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire in Geneva set itself—and today it boasts a singular olfactory signature, evoking the crisp bise, the lake’s hidden depths, and spring’s first blossoms.
We were delighted to partner with the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire and dsm-firmenich to bring this vision to life, from concept workshops and raw-material selection to the installation of custom diffusers
The scent debuted at an exclusive multisensory evening on 23 January 2025, featuring:
-
Scent-Necklace Tours: Wearable diffusers releasing curated accords before key Impressionist works—a world first.
-
Roundtable: MAH Director Marc-Olivier Wahler, artist-researcher Sissel Tolaas, and perfumer Loïc Bisceglie, discussing art and scent.
-
Ancient Fragrance Walk: Sampling recreated perfumes of Antiquity, including an Aphrodite-inspired aroma.
Now woven throughout the MAH’s visitor journey—from the welcome lobby to select galleries—this bespoke signature invites every guest to rediscover the museum through a fully sensory lens.
